Hambantota is a district with a wide variety of opportunities for valuable tourism development. With its variety of visitor attractions, we believe the Deep South has the potential to be an extremely attractive tourist destination.

It is well known that many Sri Lankans and foreigners visit the Deep South to see the remarkable sites. For the first time, at the end of 2008, HDCC in collaboration with stake holders in the tourism industry initiated a seasonal festival in the district, launching the event “Go wild in Tissa”.

Following success in 2008, a second seasonal festival will be held at the end of 2009 with the objective of promoting tourism and regenerating the tourism industry in the Deep South.  This in turn will contribute to the economic development and prosperity of the Hambantota district.
